We are branding our company

“We are exhibiting because we are branding our company.”  How often do you hear that?  In my experience, 99% of the time, that translates to:  We don’t really know why we are exhibiting.  We certainly do not have a trade show strategy.  Our staff hates being here because it is a waste of their time.  But look at the money we spent on our custom exhibit!

Seth Godin posted Brands that matter.  Here he stated:

In this era, there are two questions every marketer answers:
1.       Do I want people to interact with me and my brand in unexpected ways (as opposed to just quietly consume it)?
2.       When they interact, do I overwhelm people with delight worth remarking about?

Did you ask yourself these questions?  Did you answer?  Maybe that’s why so many companies don’t have a trade show strategy.  That would mean that you are responsible for the development, training staff, execution and reporting of your tactics.

Arguably, trade shows offer the most interactive opportunity to brand your company and create buzz.  Done right, exhibiting at trade shows provides the best marketing experience for your people, clients, prospects and bottom line.  Whatever you are doing today is sending a message, but is that how you really want your brand to be known?

Yes, it requires work, but are you up for the challenge?
